Oscars 2021 is all set for an “in-person” show

The Oscars 2021 ceremony will be in-person, rather than virtual as mentioned by the Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences( AMPAS) and channel ABC. There was initially a discussion of keeping the biggest annual firm award show of the world as a virtual affair, due to the raging and ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The variety was told by the representative that there is a massive chance for an in-person Oscars.

In June the academy had also announced that the 2021 Oscars will be held on the 25th of April, 2021, which is 8 weeks later than the planned scheduled date, because of the effects of the Pandemic on the film industry. The window of eligibility for feature films has been shifted to February 28, 2021.

Some sources also mentioned that to push the award ceremony back, the institution hoped for the theatres to open up in spring, giving allowance for movies to compete at the ceremony. Despite the movie, theatres stay shut, organizing the Oscars during late spring are putting organizers to focus on ensuring that the event continues as it always has life.

There is still some uncertainty on the attendance of the ceremony in a 3400 seat Dolby theatre of Los Angeles where the ceremony usually takes place. But there will certainly be some distance between people. According to the statement of the Award publicist, and by considering the situation, has mentioned that the academy has done a good walkthrough of the Dolby quite lately to see numerous options.

It is very much unknown about the safety protocols that would be introduced to the ceremony as no representative was clear on answering this. The Primetime Emmy Awards held in September was a hybrid event with the presence of some in-person elements in the form of Jimmy Kimmel and most of the nominees watching the show from home via Zoom.

Leading to the Oscars, there are four televised awards that are Golden Globes held on February 28, followed by Critics Choice held on March 7, SAG on March 14, and BAFTA on April 11. The Globes that disclosed the film awards for Hollywood said in a press release on July 27 said that their show would be live from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, whose host will be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

There was a decline on a comment to development by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that hosts the globes. The Critics Choice Awards was the first televised award show is open to a variety of options.

The President and the CEO of Critics Choice Association, Joey Berlin mentioned that they can assure that the show will happen, whose host will be Taye Diggs. There can be three possibilities. Either like Critics Awards Choice held last year or a hybrid.
