Pandya hands over the Man of the Series award to T Natrajan

India may have lost the final T20I match at the Sydney Cricket Grounds against Australia, but has already sealed the series on Sunday. Although Hardik played a crucial role in most of the matches, since the start of the tour, Pandya was rewarded the Man of the series for his contribution, especially with the bat, on the second T20 I for having scored an unbeaten 42 to get India cross the line, and also on the field.

But something extraordinary happened upon receiving the award, where most of the viewers felt spellbound when Pandya decided to hand over the award to Thangarasu Natrajan who was effective with his deliveries with fine figures choking the flow of runs of the opposition and never getting them to settle. Pandya further added that he was quite impressed by the way he contributed in the absence of premium bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

It was a big gesture of Pandya. He earlier stated after the second T20 I win that he was expecting Natrajan to win the man of the match. Natrajan finished with 2 wickets in the one ODI he debuted and landed with 6 wickets in the three-match T20 I series. He is better known for his effective Yorkers that hits the deck, likewise similar to that of Zaheer Khan, making the batsmen vulnerable to play loose shots or get through the defence to hit the bails. Natrajan has made a promising start to his career having taken crucial wickets and has caught the eyes of many.

As once said by the Master Blaster in front of a jam-packed Wankhede Stadium during his final test match-“ Chase your dreams, they do come true”. It has been a fitting statement for Indian players who have gone from being an ordinary cricketer to a rising Indian Star and the same has come true for the left-arm pace sensation Thangarsu Natrajan, from in Salem in Tamil Nadu. The cricketing Journey of Natrajan and being prominent has an interesting story and Luck has come as a huge factor responsible for pushing him to as a Net bowler to a strike bowler in a short period.

When on October 26, 2020, BCCI announced the Squads for the tour of Australia, there was a press release of the additional 4 bowlers in the form of Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel and T. Natrajan. Natrajan was initially touring to Australia as a net bowler, and no plans came on the fore to include him into the ODI and T20 Squads versus Australia.

The 29-year-old Natrajan was on the list of Net bowlers. He has had a wonderful performance in the IPL finishing with the second-highest wicket-taker for Sunrisers Hyderbad, behind Rashid Khan with 16 wickets. He was looking forward to bowl to the Indian bowlers in the nets, but Fate did have other plans.

He was seen as a good contender to bowl at towards to bowl good Yorkers that would need towards the tail end of the innings where batsmen are looking forward to swing their arms at every ball. Natrajan has come out pretty strong, considering where millions started watching him perform in the IPL.

Having millions of support from the South particularly from Tamil Nadu and Hyderbad, he has received praises for his consistent bowling and that has led him to represent India. Natraja will be a weapon that India will preserve carefully and Captain Kohli would have to use him wisely in the upcoming tournaments leading to the T20 world cup next year.
